R1: First win for Katerina against Alison

Love that game so much.

Clean, intense, love Alison gritt and Katerina short game, so damaging for her opponent’s game. But interesting how Alison seem to take the measure of Katerina as the match went along: 3 points in the first game, 8 in the second, and saving a match ball in the third, 10.

It would have been interesting to see how it would have gone in the 4th…

Katerina : It’s my first ever win against Alison, I’m over the moon to beat her, especially 3/0. So happy I could get through.

We are close friends, we know each other’s game pretty well. And to play against close friends is always a bit tough. But on the court, you have to think that you are not friends anymore.

The difference today I think was mental. From the first rally, I was pushing myself, blanking the fact she is my friend. I was thinking about ok, this is your chance to get through. The last couple of weeks were good for me, and I took a lot of confidence from that.

Tomorrow, Torrie is waiting. We haven’t played for a while, she is doing very well at the moment, I follow her results. I’ll try to do my best and let’s see, looking forward to it.
